KSA Software Resources

This form should be used to request that software be added to the school's network. Any faculty, staff, or student can request software, and all requests will be considered by the school's Computer Committee.

Timeline For Requests

Adding software to the network is not a simple process - it is rarely as simple as sitting in frot of each computer and installing packages individually. In order to ensure that requested software works as needed while following license restrictions and not causing problems elsewhere, the school's IT staff and Computer Committee need requests for software to be made well in advance of the beginning of the academic year.

Software requests need to be received by June 1st in order to be included in the next year's software load.

Who Makes The Decisions

Software requests are considered by the school's Computer Committee, which meets as needed. The committee is currently co-chaired by Jason Kentner and Matt Bernhardt.

Recommendations

The school's computer network already includes a very wide range of software. In order for a new package to be added, it must meet several criteria:

  • The software must be actively used in at least one class in the school. Software for personal or grant-funded research should be paid for by the individual user, or out of grant funds.
  • The software should have some capability that is not currently available through any other installed package. In order to attest this, you should be familiar with the capabilities of our current software.
