Below is a list of the major software packages that are currently available on the Knowlton computer network, with a brief description of each package.

AutoCAD
AutoCAD is a vector line drawing program with capabilities of 3d model building. This program
is used for plans, maps, sections, elevations, and basic 3d modeling. Terrain modeling is not
currently optimized in the base version of AutoCAD.
Autodesk Land Desktop
Land Desktop is a vector line drawing program with capabilities of 3d model building. This
program is based off AutoCAD as the root program. Generally, this is used for maps, surveying,
and terrain analysis. This does allow for 3D terrain modeling but not as a solid.
3D Studio Max
This is a 3d polygonal modeler that can also model in nurbs, render, and do animations.
Maya
Maya is a 3d modeling program for animation and rendering.
Sketchup
This program does conceptual 3d modeling.
Formz
3d modeling program that generates computer models with solid geometry. This program can be
used for rendering as well as basic animation. Also, the models built here may be used to work
with the CNC conversion software.
Architectural Graphic Standards
Architectural Graphic Standards is a reference for designing and implementing standards within
the landscape and architectural realm.
Nlogit Limdep
This estimation program runs linear and non-linear models.
PCSWMM
This is a GIS based modeler for hydraulic systems.
SAS
Statistical analysis program
SYSTAT
Statistics and statistical graphics program
GAMS
General Algebraic Modeling System
ArcGIS
Geographical Information Systems program that can be used for view and analyzing shape files,
geodetic information, and maps.
ArcMap Catalog & Toolbox
These two sub-programs allow you to open and convert other styles of GIS files to work
with ArcGIS
Adobe Creative Suite
This graphics suite allows easy transformation between graphics design programs to create the
best presentation possible. Used in conjunction this is a power suite, with strong individual

Photoshop
Photo editing software, Raster based.
Indesign
Vector based book/pamphlet layout program
Illustrator
Vector based sign layout program.
Acrobat Pro/Acrobat Reader
PDF creating software to allow for optimization and compression of files to transfer
across the internet faster and more efficiently
Macromedia
Macromedia has recently been purchased by Adobe Systems. It has similar functionality as that of
Adobe Creative suite with minor differences.
Freehand
Vector based program similar to Illustrator
Dreamweaver
Web page design and creation program
